Making an accurate strongback
for the Pelican took considerably longer than I had expected. The first work
on it began in January 03 and I probably didn't add the sides until March,
but I only worked one or two days a week. One problem was creating accurate
notches for the chines. You'll note I hadn't started that process yet when
this picture was taken. Another problem was getting the chines to bend down
to the proper angle to fit the bow transom. I finally used a windlass and
made a cut in the side of the chines from the transom back to at least the
first form.
